It is our pleasure and privilege to invite you again to participate in our annual hydropower event, which with its name and scope continues tradition of a series of HYDROFORUM scientific and technical conferences initiated in the first half of the seventies of the last century by the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
This year debate will take place on October 16 and 17th at "PREMIER" hotel in Krakow On October 18th, we are planning a study visit to Świnna Poręba Hydropower Power Plant.
As in previous years, the organizers are the Polish Hydropower Association (TEW), the Szewalski Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IMP PAN) and the Polish Association of Small Hydropower Development (TRMEW). At the beginning of October, 50 years have passed since the scientific and technical conference HYDROFORUM'73 which was organized by the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Northern District Power Works. The conference cycle initiated at this time is now continued by the annual Polish Hydropower Conferences HYDROFORUM. The permanent co-organizers are: the Polish Hydropower Association, the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IMP PAN) and the Polish Association for Small Hydropower Development. This year conference took place on 25-26 October at the Scandic Wrocław Hotel. The local co-organizer was the Faculty of Mechanical and Power Engineering of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The meeting was held under the auspices of the Committee on Energy Problems of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the State Water Holding "Polish Waters", the Association of Polish Electrical Engineers and the Polish Association of Water and Land Reclamation Engineers and Technicians.
The event was attended by 116 people representing 50 institutions, enterprises and NGOs. During 10 conference sessions, 35 papers were presented. The central point of the first day meeting was the HYDROFORUM Debate entitled "Pumped-storage power generation and its dilemmas". The debate was chaired by the Honorary President of TEW, collegue Stanisław Lewandowski, and the panellist team included representatives of the management staff of ZEW Niedzica SA, Energa Wytwarzanie SA, Enea Nowa Energia Sp. z o.o., Tauron Ekoenergia Sp. z o.o. The jubilee character of the event was emphasized by the occasional speech of the President of TEW, collegue Janusz Steller, and a glass of sparkling wine, which initiated the traditional reception on the first day of HYDROFORUM. The event programme included a study visit to the Malczyce Water Barrage on 27 October. Some of the participants took the opportunity to visit the monastery complex in Lubiąż – a magnificent pearl of Lower Silesian architecture, one of the largest monuments of this kind in Europe.
A book of abstracts, containing the texts of conference papers in the form of abstracts or mini-articles, was made available from this website to all interested parties before the conference. In the coming weeks, conference presentations, as well as a more detailed report with photographic documentation of the event, will be also made available. Some authors will be invited to prepare post-conference papers for publication in the quarterly "Energetyka Wodna" and in “Transactions of the Institute of Fluid-Flow Machinery” – a scientific journal of IMP PAN.

On October 26 and 27, 2022, the "Witkowski" hotel at Aleja Krakowska in Warsaw was the venue of the HYDROFORUM 2022 event, which consisted of the XI Polish Hydropower Conference and the International Symposium of the Life NEXUS Project. The event was attended by 78 delegates. 18 papers and 4 training lectures were delivered. A panel discussion on the contribution of hydropower to the Polish energy security was also held. On October 28, a large part of the participants took part in an outdoor session at the Dębe Hydroelectric Power Plant, currently at the advanced rehabilitation stage. A nice touch were congratulations addressed to the Polish Hydropower Association on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of registration in the Provincial Court in Włocławek. On this occasion, a commemorative statuette was presented to the President of TEW by an expert of the Chamber of Commerce "Polish Waterworks", attorney Paweł Sikorski. Further information on the course of HYDROFORUM 2022 can be found in the preface to the book of abstracts, this year published exceptionally only after the event end. The book includes, among others, the recollection of colleague Leon Bubała from the first years of TEW activity.
